July 17, 1pm Wendy Bailey: Ball-Jointed DollsAs Cirquemom, Wendy Bailey is the author of Resin Life: Snapshots of Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls. She will share the history of the incredible phenomena of ball-jointed dolls. A skilled costume designer for these dolls, she will describe the process of creating, costuming and photographing these figures. Wendy’s book is for sale in the Arts Center. She has also designed one of our exhibit’s display cases. |

July 22, 7pm Cassandra Light: Art & TransformationCassandra Light is the author of Way of the Doll, the Art and Craft of Personal Transformation. She is the founder of the Way of the Doll School of Sacred Art, teaching life-size doll classes for over twenty years. She will reflect on the development of this deeply moving work, and where her art is taking her now. Cassandra’s work is in the exhibit, and she will bring additional work to show during her presentation. |

July 31, 1pm Barbara Redemer: Doll Stories & Trunk ShowBarbara Redemer is a doll artist whose work is accompanied by narrative tales that will delight both adults and children. Come alone, or bring your children and grandchildren to see her dolls, and to hear their stories. Iced tea and treats will follow the presentation. Barbara’s work is in the exhibit, and she has a doll and quilt in our raffle. |

August 7, 1pm Christy Silacci: Trunk Show & Doll- MakingYou have likely seen Christy’s wonderful, zany creations in shows, store windows, and magazine articles. She will describe her process of making her dolls from discarded tins, old campaign buttons, and a wonderful array of found objects. After Christy shows her work, you are invited to try your hand at making a doll. Materials will be provided, so you only have to come and play. You will see one of Christy’s dolls, named Oprah, in the raffle. |

August 14, 1pm Sha Sha Higby: Trunk ShowSha Sha is known throughout the world as a performance artist and skilled creator of performance art costumes. Many of her performance pieces have dolls and masks integrated into them. She will talk about her life as an artist, beginning in childhood, and will demonstrate the use of a costume. A membership to Friends of Sha Sha Higby is in our raffle. Come early, as space is limited for this event, due to the size of her costume. |

August 21, 1pm Truth Marie Almond: Trunk ShowThousands of moms, teachers, and doll artists have learned to make dolls with one of Truth’s doll kits. Sold in the Hearthsong catalog for years, Truth’s Dolls set the standard for a doll made from natural materials. Truth will talk about her career as a doll artist and educator, and will show the work that she has developed over thirty years. |

August 22, 1pm Barbara Willis & Betts Vidal: Trunk ShowBarbara Willis is the author of Cloth Doll Artistry and her work has also been widely published in numerous magazines. She exhibits and teaches her whimsical style throughout England, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the United States. Betts Vidal has published doll kits and patterns and is also a well-known and beloved instructor. Barbara and Betts love to teach, travel and shop for supplies around the world. Their books, kits, patterns and supplies will be for sale at this really fun trunk show. Be prepared to laugh. |

August 28, 1pm Andrew Tabbat: Raggedy Ann & FriendsAndrew is known internationally as an expert on many dolls and is consulted by curators, collectors and auction firms, as well as being a sought after speaker at conferences and conventions. He is the author of The Raggedy Ann and Andy I.D. Guide. He will bring dolls, tell stories, share history, and engage the audience in sharing about their own doll collecting. Although not required, feel free to bring anything related to Raggedy Ann or Andy, and we will have a great time! |

September 9, 7pm Jan Sofie & Geri Olson: Using Dolls in the ClassroomJan Sofie is the Director of ArtQuest, a nationally acclaimed arts-infused charter school in Santa Rosa, and a faculty member at Sonoma State University. Geri Olson is the Chair of the Psychology Department at SSU and the founder of the Doll Project, a community-university partnership that integrates art into the K-12 curriculum. They have worked on numerous projects using the doll as an instrument for learning, artistic development, and self-expression. They will share examples of how to use the doll form in the educational setting. Other educators will also share their experiences. The Doll Project DVD is available for purchase here. |

September 16, 7pm Nina Ayin Reimer: The Ancient Art of Doll-Making: Intuition and HealingNina is the author of Artist as Healer, Stories of Transformation and Healing. She is a highly regarded workshop leader and advocate for the healing qualities of art-making. She will talk about her work, and share stories of transformation that she has witnessed in her work and travel. |
